MAHESH BHATT'S FRENK WORDS ON SAIYAARA

๐ŸŽฌ Mahesh Bhatt's frank words on Saiyaara: "This film is not a soul; it is just a colorful dress."

No matter how much glitz and glamour there is in Bollywood, the real identity of cinema lies in its depth and real emotions. Veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has recently started a new debate with his words. He praised the film Saiyaara, which has proved to be a superhit, but also clearly said that it "did not have the soul and originality of Anupam Kher's Tanvi The Great."

๐ŸŽฅ When it's a box office hit, isn't depth necessary?

Saiyaara, which was released on 18 July 2025, broke all records of earnings and collected ₹ 266 crores. The film starred new actors like Aahan Pandey and Anit Padda and was directed by Mohit Suri under the banner of YRF.

While there is no question about the film's success, Mahesh Bhatt said on The Himanshu Mehta Show:

“Mohit is a talented filmmaker, but the story he chose this time does not have the soul that makes a film memorable.”

๐Ÿ“ฑ "Today's films have no depth, only dopamine."

Mahesh Bhatt says that today's audience has become accustomed to fast-paced, flashy content. The dopamine you get while scrolling on your mobile has become the template for today's films.

"Earlier films forced you to look inside yourself. Now everything has become a means to take you away from yourself."

He expressed concern that young filmmakers are losing their original voice in the pursuit of quick hits. In such a situation, only box office figures have become the yardstick.

๐ŸŒŸ Tanvi The Great is "cinema that connects with the soul."

On the contrary, Mahesh Bhatt described Anupam Kher's film Tanvi The Great as "heart-touching cinema." The film is the story of an autistic girl, which is a wonderful amalgamation of truth, struggle, and sensitivity.

"Anupam has put all his savings into this. I am proud that the spark I saw in him during Saaransh has become a fire today."

This film is one of those sensitive stories that not only runs on the screen but also makes a place in the hearts of the audience.

๐ŸŽฏ Is just being a hit enough?

In today's time when films are being released one after the other on OTT and in theaters, can any content be called good just by being viral? Mahesh Bhatt's words have raised this big question.

He believes that a film can be called true cinema only when it becomes a medium to connect with the audience and not just to entertain them for two hours.

๐Ÿค” What does the audience think?

On social media, the audience seems to be divided into two groups.

Some are praising Saiyaara's romantic story, music, and visuals.

While some are calling Tanvi The Great a film that "touches the heart."

One user wrote,

"Saiyaara is pleasing to the eyes; Tanvi the Great touches the heart."

๐Ÿ“Œ Conclusion

Mahesh Bhatt's statement reminds us that cinema is not just a visual medium but an inner voice.

While Saiyaara created a stir at the box office, Tanvi the Great touched the soul of the audience. Both the films are successful in their own ways, but the question remains:

Do we just want a hit or something that will be remembered for years?
